FullB.jpgHendel Leiva is a filmmaker, podcaster, and social justice activist from Long Island, NY.

From the community of Brentwood, NY, Hendel has built his career on being an advocate for immigrant rights, immigration reform, and is also an immigrant rights specialist. He is a graduate of the University of Albany, and an MPA graduate from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Dedicated to immigration reform he’s been a part of: Long Island Wins, Define American, and is currently part of the racial justice organization Race Forward’s communications team.

He hosts the immigration themed podcast Immigration MIC, where he and other passionate immigration activists share their personal experiences, and give their fresh take on local and national news.

In the summer of 2017, Hendel released his documentary From One Mistake: How Immigration Became My Very Personal Fight; he is currently screening the film, and taking speaking requests.
